IL FORNO AWARDED TWO MAJOR ACCREDITATIONS BY THE MERSEY PARTNERSHIP
Liverpool’s real authentic Italian restaurant, Il Forno has been awarded two special accreditations in recognition of its high standards by The Mersey Partnership.
The awards were given to the award winning eatery, located on Duke Street, after a mystery inspector made a rigorous assessment last month. To win their two certifications, the restaurant, which is named as one of the Top 10 UK authentic Italian restaurants by The Times’ Knowledge magazine, had to meet strict criteria including quality of food, hospitality, service and efficiency and cleanliness.
The scheme is independently assessed by Quality in Tourism and restaurants that score 60 to 80% in the independent assessment receive a Taste Liverpool Quality Assured accreditation.
Il Forno scored at the highest level to ensure them of a Taste Liverpool ‘Highest Quality Assured accreditation’. And because the restaurant demonstrated that they use and promote locally sourced produce, they additionally received a “Made in the North West” accreditation.
Il Forno’s Marketing Manager Andrew Ewing said: “We are delighted to support this new initiative which recognises the high standards of dining in the city, and we are also naturally delighted to be one of the first to receive both of these acclaimed awards! All credit goes to our management, staff and chefs.”
Based on the successful Taste Lancashire scheme, which now has more than 100 members, Taste Liverpool highlights establishments who show excellence in the areas of customer service and food and drink provision, and offer a quality dining experience to visitors in the Liverpool City Region.
“As well as highlighting to diners those eateries which have subjected themselves to rigorous inspection, the initiative also helps boost the hospitality and tourism initiatives in Merseyside,” said Martin King, Director of Tourism for The Mersey Partnership.
Graham Morphy-Morris, Area Manager, for Quality in Tourism, said: “It is very encouraging to see the diversity and quality of restaurants and local produce in and around Liverpool.
“Chefs, proprietors and owners pursuing quality excellence via Taste Liverpool can demonstrate support for local suppliers together with very good levels of service, hospitality and food quality.”
