IL FORNO TREATS GUESTS TO A NIGHT OF FINE WINES AND DELICIOUS DISHES
Il Forno on Duke Street teamed up with Enotria Wines to host a tasting of seven award winning Umani Ronchi wines accompanied by a seven course gourmet dinner tailored by head chef Paolo Cillo.
The night was a great opportunity for more than 100 guests to both take a step back in time with ancient grape varieties and also look forward at the future of Italian wine making.
Among the delicious dishes were Trancio di tonno alla Livornese, Pan-fried tuna steak served on a bed of porcini mushrooms and roasted vegetables, Agnello arrosto con olive e timo, Roast medallions of Welsh rack of lamb stuffed with olives and thyme on a bed of potato puree, and Stilton con tegole di cioccolato bianco, uva sultanina e miele di Castagno, Stilton cheese with layers of white chocolate, sultanas and a chestnut honey.
Managing partner of Il Forno, Vince Margiotta, said: “This is the first time that Il Forno has held a wine evening and it was fantastic. Our head chef created seven superb dishes and the wine that was on offer complemented these beautifully. The evening was such a success that we are going to hold another one on October 29, when we are teaming up with Feudi di San Gregorio.”
